Natural Resources Institute
Experience
The Natural Resources Institute Ltd. is a company formally established in the first months of 2022. However, the cooperation of the people forming this venture started several years ago and revolved around the idea of implementing business activities using natural goods and conducting sustainable business - in accordance with nature.
The company is made up of managers with experience in running innovative projects and technological institutions, scientists affiliated with Białystok University of Technology, specialising in research on the use of natural ingredients in medicine and veterinary medicine, but also passionate and visionary people specialising in the implementation of natural solutions in agriculture. The Natural Resources Institute combines business and scientific experience with the enthusiasm of young managers using modern technologies in the organisation of the company, management processes, communication and marketing, and finally in building a modern product distribution network. We are fortunate to be able to take advantage of the best technological solutions that the modern world provides.
Our team comes from different parts of Poland. What do we have in common? - Love of nature and the use of modern technology. We combine business, scientific and practical experience.
Inspired by nature
We look for solutions in nature. It is nature that inspires us and often gives us the best solutions to the ills of mankind and the modern world. All you need is to treat the natural environment with respect and appreciate the power of 'green' solutions. The attention with which we observe our surroundings and where we develop our business brings ready-made solutions that we want to share. The Institute of Natural Resources operates in Podlasie, in the commune of Boćki, where IDN has 4 hectares of land and forest. It is a place in an exceptional natural region of Poland. This uniqueness is not only of a regional, Polish character, but is appreciated on a European and world scale - because we operate on the edge of the Białowieża Forest. As our fellow scientists emphasise: "The Białowieża Forest acts as a magnet for researchers and innovators. They come, they research, they explore, as it is difficult to find an equally natural testing ground".
Our aim is to produce natural medicinal preparations for humans and animals based on fungi growing in both natural and artificial conditions. Therefore, in a selected location on the outskirts of the Białowieża Forest, we are creating an environment for the artificial cultivation of fungi used to produce medicinal preparations. This is just one element of our plans. Another piece of infrastructure being designed will house a laboratory where research will be conducted into the medicinal and food properties of a wide range of fungi growing in the Białowieża Forest. The aim of this will be to determine which of them have medicinal properties against insect, animal and human diseases and, once confirmed, to expand breeding for new types of fungi in natural and artificial conditions and use the constructed line to produce new preparations.
Fungi
Why fungi? The answer is simple - fungi are reservoirs of a huge number of natural active compounds with a wide range of effects. Fungi produce hundreds of bioactive compounds, so-called secondary metabolites, but also possess an extremely elaborate enzymatic apparatus. It is thanks to these two characteristics that fungi exhibit such powerful biological effects. Particularly valuable are the so-called medicinal mushrooms, which are a group with proven, powerful pharmacological properties. Research, including clinical studies, unequivocally confirms their anticancer, antibacterial, antiviral, antifungal, antioxidant, immune system-supporting, antiparasitic, cholesterol-lowering, detoxifying, hepatoprotective or antidiabetic effects.
Our first project is the BEECARE project. Its aim is to produce and sell the world's first drug for the global bee disease American Foulbrood.
There is no cure for this disease and it is ex officio eradicated in the European Union.
